My music video utilises a number of narrative techniques. In
a way, I have involved a reverse narrative structure, as the protagonist is on
his way to a live performance, of which is already being shown occasionally
throughout the video, even though the event doesn’t actually take place until
the end of the video. My video is also based on a Proairetic code, where the
protagonist is running in order to meet another character on time. However, he
must travel across an entire city to reach her. The way in which the narrative
is laid out provides a sense of tension and build-up to a certain point in the
video where it reaches a climax or resolution. My narrative is episodic in a
way, as we keep referring back to the live performance scene throughout the
video.
